More Power: Carbon fiber reeds weigh less than fiberglass reeds, so they can respond to the engine faster. It is basic physics, lighter weight things accelerate faster than heavier things. Every time a carbon fiber reed opens it lets more air into the motor. More air = More HP!
Different Versions: For most motors there are 2 to 3 versions of our reeds. Some companies will tell you that you can have more power everywhere in the powerband. That’s not true. You have to pick where you want more power.
No Gimmicks: We don’t make 2-stage reeds or 2 Vee reed cages, promising you more air flow. They may work some of the time, but they are gimmicks! More air flow on a flow bench does not equal more horsepower. Reeds depend on air velocity and response time. All the factory teams Carbon Tech works with have tried these ideas years ago and moved on. They all use stock type reed cages with single stage reeds.
Longer Life: Made from first grade aerospace carbon fiber and cut using a secret process to leave a clean edge. Test after test has shown that Carbon Tech reeds consistently outlast stock fiberglass reeds. Most aftermarket reeds of fiberglass or carbon fiber reeds don’t last as long as stock reeds, let alone Carbon Tech.
Quality: Carbon Tech’s customers include HRC Honda of Japan, Suzuki of Japan, TM Racing in Italy not to mention all the top race teams. They depend on consistent quality products from us. Carbon Tech routinely delivers at half the industry standard tolerances. That’s only ±0.0005″!
Carbon Tech reeds come in different stiffnesses:
LT (Low Tension) – Good for bottom and midrange power – Not recommended for Polaris
engines with exhaust valves.
MT (Medium Tension) – Midrange and top end power
HT (High Tension) – For high RPM power
