One reed petal is NOT enough.

Reed petals in all two-stroke engines endure extreme abuse. At peak RPM, they open and close hundreds of times per second. Over time, a single reed loses its ability to regulate airflow in proper proportions, resulting in slower reed response and reduced consistency in peak horsepower.

Boyesen’s revolutionary dual-stage reed design delivers significantly more usable power than stock reeds. Traditional single-stage reeds operate efficiently only within a narrow RPM range and are inherently limited by their design. Boyesen’s system combines one soft top reed with one firm flow-through bottom reed, providing a much wider range of intake control and increased intake velocity—performance your original reeds simply cannot match.

The dual-stage design also allows replacement of the stock reed stop with a Rev-Plate, enabling the reeds to open freely and operate more efficiently. The multi-port bottom reed creates additional airflow channels, increasing charge velocity to the intake ports and generating more overall power.

Working together, the dual-stage reeds perform efficiently across the entire powerband. The difference in stiffness between the top and bottom reeds allows rapid, precise response to changes in engine pressure—resulting in quicker acceleration, crisper throttle response, and increased horsepower throughout the RPM range.
