Before working on the engine or equipment, disable the engine as follow :
- Disconnect the spark plug lead(s)
- Disconnect negative (-) battery cable from battery
Before installing your new stator
- Disconnect the stator wires from connector (if used), and remove the mounting screws and old stator assembly. Save the screws.
- Measure the leads of the old stator. Cut the leads and protective sleeve of new stator to the same length.
- Strip approximately 3/16″ of the wire insulation, then crimp and solder the terminals to the stator wires. Make sure each connection is positively secured.
- Apply pipe sealant with Teflon (Loctite No. 59241 or equivalent) to the stator mounting holes.
- Install the new stator and secure with the original mounting screws. Torque the screws to 6.2 N m (55 in. lb.) Attach stator wires to original connector (if used).
