Piston Kit comes complete with one piston, rings, pin and circlips
Piston rings are keystone type and only install one way. If the ring will not install properly, check to make sure that the chamfered edge is to the top of the piston.
The arrow on the top of the piston goes to the exhaust, except Polaris, arrow is on the mag side. The arrow is to verify piston pin location (Most pistons have locating pins to the intake). Only install the new piston assembly after determining the problem with the motor. Thoroughly clean all parts after disassembly. Inspect all disassembled parts for defects and proper clearance. Use new gaskets when reassembling the motor and check top end bearing.
Refer to manufacturer specification for ring end gap and piston clearance. BREAK in the MOTOR.
Engine Modifications: NO WARRANTY will be allowed on pistons used in modified motors of any sort. ie. Pipes, porting, carburetion changes, air box modifications, etc. Damaged pistons MUST be returned for inspection.
SPX is proud to present the QUANTUM SERIES PISTON.
The evolutionary piston is made from a space-age aluminum alloy which maintains its high tensile strength up to 700°F (300°C). This is 50% higher than a conventional cast piston. This high resistance to temperatures significantly improves fatigue, strength and impact toughness. The aluminum alloy combined with the existing anodized crown, machine smoothed heads and MOS2 coated skirts meets the demand for today’s high performance engines.
