- Remove positive AND negative cables from battery
- Remove the terminal from the end of the negative cable
- Wire the switch in between the cable and the battery terminal so that the switch will break the connection to the battery when it is off. Make sure the switch is in the “On” position when installing it
- Reconnect the terminal
- Fix the switch in the desired position
- Reconnect the battery cables to the battery poles
